Protocol-level MySQL compatibility is one of Halo's core capabilities. In 2024, NEXTGRES announced a similar PostgreSQL-based MySQL migration capability but underestimated the complexity. Despite a strong team, the NEXTGRES project has effectively failed.
We realized we might have unknowingly stepped into the forefront of the world, filling an international gap. From the beginning of our venture, we have always adhered to the sentiment of serving the country through technology, aiming to increase the voice of Chinese technicians internationally.
After careful evaluation, we decided to open-source our MySQL compatibility capability. We hope this project will enhance the international influence of Chinese databases, win a good reputation for domestic databases, and showcase the capabilities of Chinese technicians.

openHalo provides PostgreSQL with the ability to collaborate with applications written for MySQL, but with performance far superior to MySQL.
A PostgreSQL extension. Solves the logical replication (native) loopback problem in PostgreSQL versions 15 and below. It is currently the only extension on the market that can solve the logical replication (native) loopback problem in lower versions of PostgreSQL.
A PostgreSQL foreign data wrapper. Enables operating on MonetDB data within PostgreSQL.
An online table structure redefinition tool. halo_migrate can perform online redefinition of tables (such as changing column lengths) without affecting normal table usage.
